SPECIAL NEEDS HELP and EVALUATIONS

Private Testing/ Special Needs Counseling:

Susan Blackwell is an approved Special Needs Consultant for Families - available for
curriculum counseling and special needs testing. She also can make referrals for psychological
evaluations, help implement accommodations in the daily school routine, construct IEP’s
(known as Service Plans for homeschoolers), as well as provide practical assistance to parents
for their students.


Susan graduated from Tennessee Temple University with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Secondary Education, and continued working toward her Master's degree at Bob Jones
University and USC. After teaching in a Christian school for five years, she home schooled her 3
children, one of whom has Special Needs. In the 18 years of homeschooling, Susan began
testing home school groups and individuals in various places across the state in grades K
through 12 with Standardized testing, as well as tests for Special Needs children.
From 2007 to 2014, Susan worked at SC’s 2 nd option for Homeschooling, as the Director of the
Special Needs Program, and has been approved by HSLDA as a Special Needs consultant. She
also has served on the SCHEA board.


Susan is also able to connect families with experienced curriculum counselors for all
homeschooled students on the Elementary, Middle, and High School levels.

Evaluation through your school psychologist at no cost:   For special needs services, contact the school that you are zoned for and ask for the School Psychologist.  Let him/her know you are zoned for the school and want to request a special needs evaluation for your student.
